The Ultimate VIII is a softshell (a jacket that allows easy movement) that uses 3-layer WINDSTOPPER. Both the outer fabric and the lining are 100% recycled polyester, and the underarm zippers let you adjust ventilation. It is built to be worn while on the move in the mountains, from hiking to mountaineering.

Q. How should I choose a size?

A. Mammut clothing uses European sizing. Asian Fit models (cut for Japanese body shapes, with sleeve and body lengths adjusted) run one size smaller than Japanese sizing. M is equivalent to Japanese L, and the guide is a height of 172–178 cm and a chest circumference of 93–99 cm. L is equivalent to Japanese XL, and the guide is a height of 177–183 cm and a chest circumference of 97–103 cm. The figures are approximate, based on the manufacturer's size guide.

Q. Are there any features that improve ventilation?

A. There are zippers under the arms that you can open for better airflow. The material's RET value, a guide to breathability, is under 30 m² Pa/W; the lower the value, the more easily moisture escapes.

Q. How many pockets does it have?

A. There is one zip pocket on the chest and two at the front.
