A short pips rubber with pips close to long pips, for switching between knuckle balls and attacks

Do Knuckle (short pips) is a variation-type short pips rubber (a rubber with pips arranged on its surface) whose pips are shaped close to long pips. It suits play that unsettles opponents by combining variation from knuckle balls (balls with very little spin) with the kind of attack typical of short pips.

Features

  • The pip shape is close to long pips, making it easy to produce knuckle-ball variation while keeping the rubber easy to control.
  • It is easy to make clean contact on pushes (an over-the-table technique of returning the ball with backspin) and chops, and you can add variation of your own to the ball you return.
  • On Nittaku's own index, Speed is 7.50, Spin is 6.00 and Variation is 11.75, with a sponge hardness of 32.5.
  • The category is variation type, and the pip arrangement (the direction the pips line up) is vertical. There are three thicknesses and two colors.

Recommended for

  • Players who want to mix variation into their attacks on the backhand side of a shakehand racket
  • Players who want to put short pips on the reverse side of a penhold racket
  • Chop-style players who want to mix in knuckle balls

Pros and things to consider

Pros

  • You can use both knuckle-ball variation and short pips attacks.
  • On pushes and chops, it is easy to create variation yourself.

Things to consider

  • This rubber suits making use of variation rather than attacking with heavy spin.
  • The style each thickness suits differs, so please check the manufacturer's guidance when choosing.
  • Some color and thickness combinations are not offered.

A. The manufacturer's table lists the approval number as (ITTF)54-032.
