A penhold blade you can grip the Japanese way while attaching rubber to the back as well

The Double Face II JP is a Japanese penhold blade (a type of racket held the way you hold a pen). Its main feature is that you keep the Japanese grip but can attach rubber to the back as well, so you can hit with both faces. It is made of 5 wood plies, and on Yasaka's own ratings its speed is Mid-slow and its feel is Soft.

Features

  • Although it has a Japanese-style grip (85×32.5 mm), rubber can be attached to both the front and the back.
  • 5 wood plies, 6.2 mm thick. Classified as all-round.
  • On Yasaka's own ratings, speed is Mid-slow and feel is Soft.
  • Blade 163×140 mm, weight about 70 g (manufacturer-stated).

Recommended for

  • Players who want to take up back-face hitting while keeping the Japanese grip
  • Players who want to widen their game by using both faces instead of just one

Pros and things to consider

Pros

  • You can attach rubber to both faces without changing the Japanese grip.
  • With Mid-slow speed and a Soft feel, the ball is easy to keep in check.

Things to consider

  • Rubbers are sold separately. If you attach them to both faces, please prepare two.
  • Attaching rubber to both faces adds to the total weight.
  • The speed rating is Mid-slow, which may feel lacking to players who prioritize speed.
