A Mark V with a softer HPS sponge for more sink-in and stability

The soft version of the "Mark V HPS" in the Mark V series of inverted rubbers (rubbers with a flat surface that make it easy to put spin on the ball), with a softer sponge. The ball sinks in easily, and it suits players who want both bounce and stability.

Features

  • The softer sponge makes the ball sink into the rubber more easily.
  • A balance that provides rebound while also taking ease of handling into account.
  • On Yasaka's own rating scale (Mark V = 10): Speed 11+, Spin 10+, Control 10+.
  • Sponge hardness is 35–40° (as published by Yasaka). Three thicknesses are offered, from Medium-thick to Extra thick. Made in Japan.

Recommended for

  • Players who want both bounce and stability as an extension of the Mark V
  • Players who want a softer rubber that lets the ball sink in

Pros and things to consider

Pros

  • On Yasaka's own ratings, Speed, Spin and Control are all above the Mark V baseline (10).
  • The softer sponge lets the ball sink in easily.

Things to consider

  • Three thicknesses from Medium-thick up are offered, so it is not for players who want a thinner sponge.
  • Players who prefer a firm feel at impact may find it soft.
