A Mark V with a slightly tacky sheet that emphasizes spin while keeping its ease of handling

A model in the Mark V series of inverted rubbers (rubbers with a flat surface that make it easy to put spin on the ball) that uses a slightly tacky sheet with a little stickiness. Built on the ease of handling inherited from the Mark V, it suits players who want to take the emphasis on spin one step further.

Features

  • A Mark V that uses a slightly tacky sheet and puts the emphasis on spin.
  • Unlike a full-fledged tacky rubber, the tackiness is slight, balanced against bounce.
  • On Yasaka's own rating scale (Mark V = 10): Spin 11, Control 10+, Speed 9+.
  • Sponge hardness is 40–45° (as published by Yasaka). Thickness can be chosen from Thin to Extra thick. Made in Japan.

Recommended for

  • Players who want to put more emphasis on spin while keeping the Mark V's ease of handling
  • Players who want to try a sheet with a slight stickiness

Pros and things to consider

Pros

  • Spin 11 and Control 10+ (Yasaka's own ratings) are both above the Mark V baseline.
  • Thickness can be chosen from Thin to Extra thick, making it easy to match your preference.

Things to consider

  • Players who want as much spin as a tacky rubber may find it lacking.
  • Speed is 9+ (Yasaka's own rating), so another model may suit players who put bounce first.
