Yasaka Reinforce SI Shakehand Blade

A blade that feels like wood on soft hits and can bring out the power of carbon on hard ones

The Reinforce SI is an offensive shakehand blade with 2 Fleece Carbon layers. Its distinctive feature is a thinner center ply (the middle layer of the blade), which places the carbon closer to the center. Hit lightly and it feels close to wood; hit hard and you can aim for the power of carbon.

Features

• A construction that adds 2 Fleece Carbon layers to 5 wood plies.
• The center ply is made thinner so that the carbon sits closer to the middle of the blade.
• On soft hits you can aim for good ball hold (the sense of how long the ball stays on the rubber), and on hard hits for the power of carbon.
• On Yasaka's own classification, speed is Mid and feel is Medium. Blade thickness is 5.6 mm.
• The blade is 157×150 mm, the grip is 100×24 mm, and the weight is approx. 87 g (manufacturer-published value).

Recommended for

• Players who want the power of carbon while keeping a feel close to a wooden blade
• Players who want to alternate between shots that keep the rally going and shots that finish the point
• Players who want easy handling even with carbon

Pros and things to consider

Pros

• The design makes it easier to switch between a wood-like feel and the power of carbon depending on how hard you hit.
• Speed is Mid (Yasaka's classification), and ease of handling has been taken into account even with carbon.

Things to consider

• Weight is approx. 87 g (manufacturer-published value), which may feel heavy to players who prefer a light blade.
• Rubbers are sold separately, so you will need to prepare two rubbers, one for each side.

Specifications

Speed, Feel are Yasaka's own published ratings; they cannot be compared with other manufacturers' figures.

FAQ

Q. Where is the carbon placed?

A. As in every model of the series, there is carbon on both sides of the center ply. In the SI the center ply is made thinner, so the carbon sits closer to the middle of the blade.

Q. Do rubbers come with it?

A. No. This is the racket body (blade) only. The two rubbers for both sides are sold separately.
